Ancient Aliens

the woman came to her husband, saying,"A Man of God came to me, 

and His countenance was like the countenance of the Angel of God"

(Judges 13: 6)

Do you believe in aliens from outer space?  Beings unlike ourselves who have existed for eons in a perfect environment? I’m don’t mean little green men or translucent creatures with huge eyes set in radish-shaped heads.  I mean intelligent beings from another dimension who are capable of taking on the appearance of human beings and interacting in one-on-one encounters with earthlings.

If you believe the Bible, you do believe in such beings.  The Bible calls them angels and gives many accounts when they appeared to individuals with help or special messages from God.  Two such incidents are the angel who appeared to Mary, announcing that she would give birth to the Messiah, and those who proclaimed His birth to the shepherds.  Likewise, there have been many accounts in modern times of help arriving unexpectedly, just when it was needed.

Ora and Edith were a wonderful Christian couple in their 90’s. As they were driving to Springfield one morning, Ora suffered a heart attack and died at the wheel.  The car begin veering to the right, across the shoulder and into a deep ditch.  Gathering her senses about her, Edith reached over and turned off the switch. The car came to rest just short of a deep ravine.

Edith knew they needed help but the ditch was deep enough that their car could not be seen by traffic passing on the roadway above.  The car was pitched at such an angle she wasn’t sure she could even open the door.  Suddenly, four women dressed in white, appeared beside the car.  They opened the door, helped Edith out of the car, and assured her that help was on the way. 

Almost immediately, an ambulance arrived and the paramedics took over. Recounting the incident later, Edith remarked, “I don’t know what became of the ladies who helped.  As they were loading Ora into the ambulance, I turned around to thank them and they were just gone.”

Jan, her niece, and two young children were returning to her home in Houston after spending a weekend at the beach.  Traffic on the interstate was heavy that night and it was pouring rain when she realized she had a flat tire. As she eased the car to the shoulder, they observed a pickup backing up a nearby exit ramp.  It continued until it stopped right in front of her car

As she opened her door, the driver of the truck approached her.  He said for her to stay in out of the rain and he would change the tire, which he did.  When he was finished, Jan got out to thank him, but when she extended money to him, he quickly put his hands behind his back, saying, “Oh no, ma’am.  I was told to come.”  With that he got into his vehicle and left in the direction he had come.

Two instances out of numberless others that have been reported.  Angels in human form or just generous human beings who happened to be nearby at the right time?   It is impossible to say.  But either way, it is safe to say that they were all sent by a loving, caring God.

Jesus said, “I will never leave you or forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).  And we know that He is true to His word.

Lord, thank You for the help You send
whenever we’re in need.
Amazing are the ways You plan, 
fulfilling every deed.
Help us be the hands and feet,
that You may wish to use
to help someone who has a need,
in ways that You will choose.
