His Time, His Way, His Place

Thus says the Lord, in an acceptable and favorable time
I have heard and answered you, and in a day of salvation
I have helped you; and I will preserve you
(Isaiah 49:8 Amp)

In an acceptable time and in due season are phrases found throughout the Bible.  They indicate that after much time, when circumstances were just right, long-awaited events finally came to pass.

Abraham and Sarah, beyond childbearing years, gave birth to their son, Isaac, through whose lineage the Messiah would be born.  (Genesis 18:1-19; 21:1-2; Matthew 1:2, 16).

Zechariah and Elizabeth experienced the same miracle with the birth of John, later known as John the Baptizer, the forerunner of the Messiah. (Luke 1:5-25, 57).

God’s often repeated promise to send a Redeemer came to pass when Jesus, the Holy Son of God, was born in a human body to the Virgin Mary. (Luke 1:26-38; 2:6-7).

Even before God created our universe, He promised to provide a method by which we can be restored to a right relationship with Him.  His plan was completed when on the cross of Calvary, with His dying breath, Jesus declared, “It is finished!”  (John 19:30).

Simply put, God is faithful.  He is also perfect, above any semblance of evil. (James 2:13).  Not to be true to His Word would be contrary to His very nature. Therefore, we can rest assured that since He has never failed once, He will not start with us.

When we are waiting for solutions, it is helpful to remember that God has a plan, and His plan has a timetable.  King Solomon vocalized this truth in the book of Ecclesiastes:

To everything there is a season, and a time
for every matter or purpose under heaven
(Ecclesiastes 3:1 Amp)

In our haste to accomplish things or to see an end to unpleasant circumstances, we sometimes fail to take these factors into consideration.   We want it done now, if not sooner.  We forget that once we have completely turned a matter over to God, we must trust His faithfulness.  He will not only bring it to the best conclusion, He will do so according to His timetable.

It is not enough just to take action.  Everything must be done according to God’s will. We are wise to remember, if we want God’s power, we must follow His plan: His time. His way. His place.

Thank you, Lord, that You overlook how weak my faith is still,
for which with easy I say, “He can.”, it’s hard to say, “He will.”
